"A new series always begins with the first intended idea, and then progressively the idea changes until that invisible element, an optic gray appears. This tonal principle is the basis of my recent work: a return to a classical order of composition, light, and color." Oscar studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas before teaching and exhibiting throughout Mexico's art institutions and here in the USA.

Their backgrounds are as varied as the artwork they produce, and they are serious about art making and their passion for excellence. Come see for yourself and meet this fascinating group of artists!

Julia's work, often combining natural and repurposed materials, depicts a familiar yet skewed likeness of nature. Focused especially on texture, form and hidden details gleaned from local flora, Julia is one of a small handful of artists nation-wide who are transitioning Polymer Clay (Fimo) from craft to fine art use.
This unique mixed media exhibition will include the musical talents of another Napa Valley native, Maxwell Caffrey. Max manipulates sound via digital means and will create an original musical "score" specifically inspired by Julia's work. This is a Nimbus Arts experience not to be missed.

Pablo Picasso painted Guernica
in 1937, and it has since become both his most well-known work and a powerful antiwar statement. Guernica is named for the small Basque town devastated by bombs dropped by the National Socialists during the Spanish Civil War, the event that Picasso depicts in his agonized, Cubist-influenced painting. Join McDowell for a close reading of the painting, the historical context surrounding it, and its reverberations in the present moment. $25 (student/teacher price: $10)
