This hands-on workshop is for anyone interested in bees, whether they are hobbyists or established beekeepers. Students will learn to handle bees, collect swarms, and successfully manage their own bee colony at home. Gain an understanding of the honeybee as one of the more important contributors to our agricultural landscape. Discover sustainable beekeeping, without using antibiotics or chemical compounds for pest and disease control. Included in this dynamic class outline: discussions on bee biology, honeybee pests and diseases, beekeeping equipment and methods for building up a new colony. Through open-hive inspections, students will have an opportunity to become comfortable handling bees and learn via our hands-on approach to living sustainably with bees.  $90
