Performance Art is a genre born in the 1970s, but has become especially relevant in recent years as new media formats such as YouTube allow the Internet to be every performer’s stage. This talk considers a few recent performances that have captivated contemporary art audiences, and forced us to question what the role of the artist is in society. Whether you enjoy theater or are simply aware of what it means to be a body moving in the world, this talk will offer food for thought about the ways we engage our surroundings. $30
