With mosaics created by students, school administrators, teachers, and community members from 2016-2017, this 50+ foot LEED-standard built bench celebrates the school’s dragon mascot – a mythological creature that spans civilizations and cultures.

This installation is located at on the campus of the St. Helena Elementary School, near the corner of Oak Street and Adams Street, St. Helena, CA.

The Hundreds of Hands™ mosaic bench project, built to LEED standards, was made possible through the support by a nonprofit grant awarded by the City of St. Helena; a matching gift from the Rudd Family Foundation; grants from the Napa Valley Community Foundation;  Five Arts Fund; Freed Family Fund; Thacher Family Fund; Nimbus Arts Leadership Circle, 2016-17; collaboration with the St. Helena Unified School District; generous support from St. Helena Construction, R.E.B. Engineering Inc., and Harold Smith & Son Inc.; Nimbus Arts’ patrons and donors; and many community volunteers. Principal Tanya Pearson, Seattle Mosaic Arts, Hundreds of Hands™ Team & Nimbus Artists Kerri Beeker, Sandra Cruz, Anne Pentland, Jamie Graff, Claire Barnett, and Janie Yakovlevitch led the development, design, construction and installation of the mosaic bench.
