Mighty Musicians
The line up for this fest will surely “YO HO blow the man AWAY!”
You won’t want to miss the foot stomping, kick-up-your-heels dance party with the famed Celtic punk band, The Walker Roaders from Los Angeles, CA.
As both renowned originators and practitioners of the genre, the supergroup, as it has been described, consists of James Fearnley co-founder of The Pogues on accordion, Ted Hutt co-founder of Flogging Molly on acoustic guitar, and Marc Orrell multi-instrumentalist with Dropkick Murphys on banjo and mandolin. Completing the line-up are storied producer Brad Wood on bass and coveted drummer Bryan Head.

Carter Newel from Damariscotta, Maine has been playing the fiddle for over 50 years in numerous trad bands including the Oystermen, playing Downeast Maritime music and songs, and a contra dance band the Twitchell Hill Fiddleheads with 6 fiddles including his two daughters and 3 grandchildren. He enjoys the down east Maine and Canadian Maritimes fiddle traditions, as well as Celtic and old tine styles. He founded Pemaquid oyster company in 1984 and is CEP of Pemaquid Mussel farms, working most days on either farm or fiddling. mixing traditional acoustic music with songs about oysters, mermaids, and life along the Maine coast as well as some good ol humor.
Carter is joined by Daniel Stienberg & Paul Kotapish, together they form The Shuckers from Mars who have joined us to bring their craft of storytelling, shanty tunes, and fabulous fiddle playing to our shores!
Daniel Stienberg has been a musical performer and teacher for over 45 years, with a particular fascination with the traditional music and dance from diverse cultures around the world. He plays piano and flute with the contra dance band Hillbillies from Mars, with New England fiddler Rodney Miller, with many luminaries of the fiddle music scene, and several Latin American and African ensembles. Inspired by a gospel choir workshop he attended in 1995, Daniel founded community choruses in the San Francisco Bay Area, and has led a chorus workshops at for the past 25 years.
Paul Kotapish plays Mandolin & Guitar, and has performed and recorded with Wake the Dead, Euphonia, Hillbillies from Mars, the Synaesthetics, the Quirks, Kevin Burke’s Open House, the Rodney Miller Band, and many others. His playing is rooted in the vintage rural music traditions of Appalachia, Ireland and beyond, but also embraces rock and country. Over the decades he’s appeared on concert stages and in dance halls throughout the United States and around the globe—from remote fishing villages in Alaska to the Kremlin in Moscow.
Our oyster-full afternoon will surely inspire song, dance, feasting, and frolicking with kin & folk in a lovely garden festival setting.
