#017: Día de los Muertos Corazón Community Altar Project

In honor of our 15th event anniversary, we offered our Día de los Muertos Corazón Community Altar Project, designed to honor the love we have for our community, and for our loved ones who are no longer with us.

Our studios were open for all to paint a ceramic Corazón candle holder, then they were displayed at our community art installation on Sunday, October 29th at the Annual Día de los Muertos Celebration at the Napa Valley College Upper Valley Campus.

The gathering brought together hundreds of people of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate the traditions of our Mexican American Community. Vendors offered traditional Mexican food and drink, while performing artists entertained the crowd with music and folklorico dance. Nimbus Arts offered a variety of culturally themed art activities as well as showcasing Día de los Muertos-inspired artwork created during our public-school art programs, and at free family art gatherings at Nimbus.

This year’s Día de los Muertos Celebration was made possible through generous grants from The City of St. Helena and The Damian Maldonado Memorial Foundation.
